Cooperation between the ATC (Ethiopia) and DEULA is strengthened
by Jana Ingwersen
The international contacts to our partners all over the world continue to develop successfully this year. This week (week 46) we had a meeting with employees of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) from Ethiopia. Under the direction of Mr. Mengesha (GIZ) it was discussed how the German-Ethiopian Training Center (ATC) in Kulumsa can be continued under the direction of the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture after the end of the funding period by the BMEL.
In the future one of the most important tasks of the ATC will still be the practice-oriented training and retraining of agricultural specialists with different levels of prior knowledge and different ages. For the successful solution of this task target group oriented curricula are necessary, teaching and learning materials must be constantly adapted to the technical progress in agriculture. The retraining of the trainers must also not be missing.
To promote the economic stability of such a training center it is indispensable to do an intensive analysis of what education and training measures the people in the region actually need, at present and in the future.
All of this is precisly that kind of support that DEULA Nienburg can offer the ATC in the future. Our many years of varied experience in similar projects, especially in Africa, provide a good foundation for this cooperation.
